Romford Embroiderers bid a sad farewell to one of our founder members.

Patricia Hamlin

Pat died on Friday 2nd February after battling a long illness. She was interested in craft and stitch and she took her City and Guild in Creative Embroidery at the same time as me at the London College of Fashion. She subsequently joined an exhibiting group called ‘Breakaway 92’. Pat became a Life Member of the Embroiderers’ Guild but as our nearest branch was in Chelmsford she and I founded the Romford and West Essex Branch of the Guild, Pat becoming the Secretary and the Programme Secretary. Pat continued arranging the programme for many years enjoying all the new developments in embroidery and booking the most exciting speakers and tutors she could find for our meetings. When Pat could no longer attend our meetings the Committee made her a Life Member of the Branch in recognition of her long and valued service. We were very happy that she was able to attend our 25th. Anniversary meeting in July 2017. Pat was a real character and will be sadly missed.
